Over the course of the series, (When Darkness Calls, When Angels Sleep and When Silence Kills) we’ve found out more about criminal psychologist Holly Wakefield’s past. Orphaned when a serial killer known as 'The Animal' chose her parents as his final victims. The horrors Holly saw in her youth propelled her to become a criminal psychologist and shapes who she is today. This time, as she consults once more on a case for the Met Police with DI Bishop, she’s more involved than ever with the case in front of her. Holly’s past is coming back from the dead to haunt her, and leaving notes at the crime scenes especially for her. However impossible it may seem, Holly is certain she knows who the killer is, and she and Bishop will have to investigate this case a little differently in order to bring the killer to light, before he gets to Holly.
A dramatic new case. I'd recommend reading at least When Silence Kills before this one in order to have an introduction to the plot but the whole series comes with my recommendation. Gripping from the start this is another edge-of-your-seat book that had me reading well in to the night.
