The author was a ballerina and it shows in the love of her subject and her art. She has also written a couple of novels and that style shines through too. A lovely book.

In 1959 Meredith Daneman won a scholarship from her native Sydney to the Royal Ballet School. As a student there she danced at Covent Garden, before joining the Australian Ballet for its inaugural season. Meredith Daneman is the author of four novels: A Chance to Sit Down; The Groundling; Francie and the Boys and The Favourite. She lives in London.
