Travel Trends presents the main annual results of the International Passenger Survey (IPS) which collects information on travel to and from the UK. This title shows overseas residents' visits to the UK increased by six per cent in 2002, and their spending grew by four per cent. In 2002, overseas residents made 24.2 million visits to the UK, 1.3 million more than in 2001. These visitors spent £11.7 billion while in the UK, £0.4 billion more than in 2001. In contrast, UK residents made a record 59.4 million visits abroad, an increase of two per cent on the previous year. UK residents also had record levels of spending abroad: £27.0 billion - up by more than six per cent. These are just some of the core facts from this key guide to travel patterns.
