"Sunshine, showers, and storms make this relationship tale feel wonderfully authentic while still bringing a whole heap of feel-good factor."
Yet again I have chosen a Fiona Gibson novel as one of my personal picks of the month. I love a fabulous romance, always have. Fiona Gibson has the gift of letting you take a flight of fancy while feeling grounded and at home. Here, Lauren and James meet while on holiday and have the most perfectly romantic time. When they get back to the UK, things aren’t as beautifully easy as they would have hoped, as into the mix comes their children, family, work, and life in general. The chapters are headed by different characters, short and snappy the individual stories run into and around each other, blending into a whole. There are a number of different relationships in play during this tale, Charlie and Esther who are breaking ground as young adults, add a particular zesty note to proceedings. I love the journey each of them takes, this really is an ensemble piece. While the importance of family (however it is made), and love sits centre stage, it’s clear that the upheaval and reality of life is treated with respect and empathy. A truly lovely relationship story, The Man I Met on Holiday makes for juicy, sweet, and addictive reading.
