Two seemingly happy couples: Rob and Carly, Jenni and Craig. But one fateful day, one happens to ask her husband who else he might prefer to be with and unwittingly unleashes a close-knit tale of treachery, obsession (naturally) alongside deception and surprises. A domestic soap opera of a thriller that grips and turns out full of unexpected directions, in which no character behaves quite as you expected and least of all happens to be honest and perfect. Told through the four respective, ever untrustworthy voices, each new perspective deepening the dark, sinister elements of the domestic plot gone bonkers. Supremely unlikeable characters make for a gripping story that keeps you reading on, ever avid for revelations and resolution. Readers will either love it or hate it; I was in the former category but then I've alwas enjoyed contrary, idiosyncratic books. An impressive debut by a new British writer. ~ Maxim Jakubowski
