LoveReading Says
The second volume in the building of the family empire, Deravenels sees Edward beget six children, two boys and four girls. Through trauma, disasters and much drama we whip through the generation and into the 70s to await the next instalment. I won’t tell you who lives and dies, who favours who and who will be scared by jealousy, I’ll just say that despite, on occasions, a tad too much peripheral detail (what is eaten or drunk) and not enough of Bess’s story, you are certainly left eager for the third.
