"Although I was sad as the passing of time played out and the story began to end, this feels like a satisfying conclusion to a series I have been invested in for years now."
The emotional conclusion of an epic family history. The story of Annabelle’s family continues in Blood Brothers by Marcus Abston. The fifth and final instalment of A Dying Truth Exposed series. We pick up where the previous book, The Missing Puzzle Piece left off, as the Lightning Strongman family continue to search for their stolen son Joseph while he endures the brutality of slavery. Covering the era of the Civil War and the Dawes Rolls the reader finally understands how the contemporary Lightning family have come to forget some of their heritage, and require Albert’s retelling. This book needs to be read following the rest of the series, starting with Bloodlines. The whole series has ups and downs, characters you can root for and hope, family and joy. It’s an epic family story that includes action, moments of tension, harrowing moments and times of joy. The author continues to not spare the reader in his descriptions of the brutality faced by those enslaved and of Cherokee descent, some of it is hard reading because I was emotionally invested and I wanted the characters to find each other again and for the story to end happily. Although I was sad as the passing of time played out and the story began to end, this feels like a satisfying conclusion to a series I have been invested in for years now.
