"This contemporary romance has real heart as it provides a wonderful sense of place, determined main character and a brooding romance prospect. "
A gorgeous relationship tale awaits, and one that doesn’t just concentrate on the romance, it also highlights new beginnings, friendship, family, and community too. Newly widowed 32 year-old artist Imogen and her cat move from London to Storybook Cottage in the countryside where a whole new world opens up in front of her. Author Poppy Alexander wrote The Littlest Library which was a Liz Pick, and her latest novel joins my monthly list of chosen books too. I really enjoyed the sense of place that envelops the book, not only with the community but also Storybook Cottage, which retains its status as a character throughout, and I could easily picture the house and garden. Village life sits in the spotlight, as does the bravery of self-belief and determination. As I finished reading I actually exclaimed out loud: “ahhh, wasn’t that lovely”! A warming hug of a read, Storybook Ending ensures the traditions of a romantic tale while feeling modern and contemporary.
