"A descriptive and enlightening beginners guide to sound which helps reconnect to and explore the healing and therapy sound can offer."
A descriptive and enlightening beginners guide to sound which helps reconnect to and explore the healing and therapy sound can offer. I had heard about sounds baths, and how music can help people with dementia or Alzheimer’s, but I hadn’t ever really stopped to consider further. I stepped into the pages with my mind open, but with no real idea of what to expect. Author Janie Everett welcomes and mentors in a really accessible and friendly way, explaining that you are your own sound healer. She addresses the issues with labels, buzzwords, and expensive solutions, instead giving considerate and supportive advice. The book is gently colourful, with simple illustrations and thoughtful quotes, it takes you by the hand and feels kind. What awaits is history, science, explanations, and exercises, everything you need to be able to learn about and access sound so you can hear and feel it with your whole body. Information builds in enveloping layers around you, and I was left wanting to explore, to develop, and reconnect with sound. Helpful and encouraging, The Healing Power of Sound is a fascinating and inspiring companion guide.
