Emily receives an invite from her newly married best friend Belle to join her and the wealthy Scarmado family on the maiden voyage of their sparkling new ship. She hasn’t seen her friend in three years and when a threatening note follows, she knows she must come to her friend’s rescue. Life aboard isn’t all glitz and glamour, and the money in your bank account doesn’t always define how rich you are. There is in-fighting between the Scarmado siblings and the threats to expose Emily’s secrets continue as they keep a facade in front of the world’s press to ensure this maiden voyage is a success. But out at sea, away from help or escape things begin to crumble on the turbulent waters of this twisting thriller.
As I read Five Nights I was constantly switching between theories, never knowing what the next day would bring. As I put the book down for the night I would sit and analyse what had just happened and what I thought would happen next. As each day of this cruise is marked off, the tension slowly builds, leading you up to the final leg and a gripping climax, the events of which sailed by my theories unnoticed. This is an entertaining and twisty-turny thriller filled with glitz and the high-life as well as its Succession-style underbelly.
