LoveReading Says
Like many readers (and the publishing industry at large!) I love books with a punchy concept — the kind of story that makes you grin with recognition just from the elevator pitch. So I was pleased when I was asked to review this story about someone being ghosted by a date — only to discover he had actually died, and he’s going to haunt her until they solve the mystery of his death.
When it arrived in the post, I opened it absent-mindedly expecting to just browse the opening few pages, and got so hooked that it was only a few chapters later that I came to and decided to put the rest of my plans on hold to carry on reading.
Mullender writes with a warm, breezy charm which makes even this supernatural high-concept premise feel grounded and relatable.
We’ve all experienced something like being ghosted, and I enjoyed the way Mullender weaves in the different emotional devastations of absence, grief, longing, and trying to move on after building up hopes of a life with someone.
Trying to avoid spoilers here, but the love story and the mystery’s ending were the ones I expected, but that doesn't spoil the enjoyable journey of getting there.
I look forward to reading Mullender's next books too!

Ghosted Synopsis
Meet Andy: GSOH, emotionally available and... well, dead. Meet Emily: the girl Andy ghosted. No, literally...
A year ago, Emily was ghosted. But it's fine, she's over it. Plus, she's far too busy working on herself to be haunted by her past.
That is... until his name is spelled out on a Ouija board at a party, and she learns that he didn't ghost her after all. He died. And just as she's trying to work out how she feels about that, Andy turns up in her flat as a ghost.
Andy needs Emily's help: he can't move on until he solves the mystery of his death. But as they spend more time together, Emily is reminded of just how right Andy was for her. And just how drop dead gorgeous he was - and still is.
And suddenly laying her ghosts to rest becomes a lot harder than she first thought...
A hilarious and feel-good rom com, perfect for fans of Ashley Poston's The Dead Romantics, Erin Sterling's The Ex Hex or anything by Emily Henry.
