LoveReading Says

An fascinating novel set in a dystopian future, 20 years after the social - economic collapse of the US. I loved the way this book began with an introduction set in the present day, introducing several characters integral to the story, just as the country teetered on the brink of collapse. The story then jumped forward to a very different system 20 years later. In a country ravaged by the spread of an infection, system collapse, a divided system of government, this story is set mainly in the walled New Republic community with its strict rules and 'packs'.  Following several interconnected characters, this was a very well written dystopian thriller and I was hooked from the start. Totally invested in the events and characters, particularly Haven the main FMC, I didn't want to put this book down. Not wanting to give too much away, because let's just say the various twists in this story are what makes it such a thrilling read. The author creates several diverse groups of strong characters, brilliant backstories for each and huge twists and challenges throughout the book. Add in a very dark (but likeable) character with psychopathic tendencies, a government system that isn't all it seems and found family vibes and this book had me page turning to the end. It's a great mix of classic dystopian and suspense. I'm definitely hoping there is a planned follow up to this book. This is one I'll be recommending as a must read book for sure.
