Thoroughly enjoyed this story. There are various facets of the tale which make for an interesting read. The difficulty of getting cargo when the ship is not part of a larger company is well drawn. Getting a crew wasn't easy either in wartime especially on a tramp cargo ship. The tension is kept up very well throughout, danger is ever present in the writing from the ship's crew and their interactions, the Jewish passengers, the crew of the German u-boat provide some nail-biting moments, as do the dangers the sea poses. There is also a lightness in the story with the romance between Rogers and Miriam but it's not front and centre. I hope there are other stories just as exciting from this author as I would like to read more, especially if they are of the same characters. Thank you for allowing me to read a copy.
