"Abandon all thoughts of this world and live on The Ledge, a trapped village containing an intrepid heroine seeking revenge."
A bold and gutsy epic fantasy debut, with a healthy helping of romance. As I started to read I did wonder whether this would be best suited to teens, but due to the content, language and sex scenes it is aimed at new adults. Dawsyn has fought to survive the frozen village in which she is contained, when chosen as a sacrifice to The Glacians she escapes and finds herself on the run with half-Glacian Ryon. Ledge is the first novel in the Glacial Trilogy by author Stacey McEwan, the stunning cover called me in, and as I entered, found myself poring over a fabulous map (a contents warning sits next to the map). The world-building expands slowly, this really is all about the main two characters. Dawysn and Ryon are fearsome combatants, each on their own path to revenge. The sexual tension between them smoulders as they begin to understand that each of them battles to right a wrong. Lusty at times even rollicking, with formidable fighting, pops of powerful healing magic, and a heroic plot, Ledge will appeal to those seeking new adult romantic fantasy.
