LoveReading Says
Is this rom-com hyper realistic? Maybe not. But isn’t that just code for ‘kinda boring’?
For example, do we believe for a single second that the towering green-eyed hunk of an engineering genius Levi reaaaally used to stare at Bee at college because he ‘hated’ her? Of course not! Or, when Bee uses her anonymous @WhatWouldMarieCurieDo Twitter account to have cute DMs with the other smart, funny, kind, woke Twitter anonymous scientist @Schmacademics, does the reader have any doubt about his real identity? Of course not! But does that make it any less delicious to watch the two of them work out all their misunderstandings and mutual obsession with each other? OF COURSE NOT!
There’s so much FUN and JOY and FEMINISM and SCIENCE and GENIUSES and LOVE and CATS in this book. If you are a sciencey nerd, you’ll get an extra level of joy from Hazelwood’s (who is also a scientist herself!) laboratory setting and Star Wars nods – but even simple-minded humanities students like me will get invested in the sexiness of the space-brain research Bee and Levi are collaborating on. I also particularly enjoyed the cute gay subplot (no spoilers as to who they are!) and that both the protagonists are wholesome vegans. Score!
Honestly guys, I really loved this. It made me want to dye my hair Bee purple and research Marie Curie and topple the patriarchy and — vitally — have lots of sex with a gorgeous obsessed-with-me NASA scientist.
Hazelwood’s second book will no doubt be as bestselling and TikTok hyped as her first, The Love Hypothesis was – and it absolutely deserves to be. You’ll race through it as fast as Levi on one of his sexy jogs.

Love on the Brain Synopsis
From the New York Times bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis comes a new STEMinist rom-com in which a scientist is forced to work on a project with her nemesis - with explosive results. Like an avenging, purple-haired Jedi bringing balance to the mansplained universe, Bee Koenigswasser lives by a simple code: What would Marie Curie do? If NASA offered her the lead on a neuroengineering project - a literal dream come true after years scraping by on the crumbs of academia - Marie would accept without hesitation. Duh. But the mother of modern physics never had to co-lead with Levi Ward. Sure, Levi is attractive in a tall, dark, and piercing-eyes kind of way. And sure, he caught her in his powerfully corded arms like a romance novel hero when she accidentally damseled in distress on her first day in the lab. But Levi made his feelings toward Bee very clear in grad school - archenemies work best employed in their own galaxies far, far away. Now, her equipment is missing, the staff is ignoring her, and Bee finds her floundering career in somewhat of a pickle. Perhaps it's her occipital cortex playing tricks on her, but Bee could swear she can see Levi softening into an ally, backing her plays, seconding her ideas ... devouring her with those eyes. And the possibilities have all her neurons firing. But when it comes time to actually make a move and put her heart on the line, there's only one question that matters: What will Bee Koenigswasser do?

'Hopelessly, brilliantly, wonderfully romantic. I loved it even more than The Love Hypothesis, and I didn't think that was possible' - Cressida McLaughlin
About Ali Hazelwood
Ali Hazelwood is the New York Times and Sunday Times bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis, Love on the Brain and Love Theoretically as well as a writer of peer-reviewed articles about brain science, in which no one makes out and the ever after is not always happy. Originally from Italy, she lived in Germany and Japan before moving to the US to pursue a PhD in neuroscience. She recently became a professor, which absolutely terrifies her. When Ali is not at work, she can be found running, eating cake pops, or watching sci-fi movies with her two feline overlords (and her slightly-less-feline husband).
