A reissue of two thrillers by the creator of that wonderful criminal rascal Fletch (and if you think of him as Chevy Chase in those awful self-satisfied movies, DO go back to the humorous originals which are so much better). The first, Snatch, is a quirky kidnapping tale at high octane speed that never runs out of fuel and brings a sardonic voice to a story of political conspiracies set in New York. The pace never tires, adventure at its spiky best. The second novel in the volume, Safekeeping, also revolves around the abduction of an 8 years old child and the hapless band of kidnappers who organised the crime. At times tongue in cheek, but always suspenseful in a light-hearted manner, both novels demonstrate the relaxed style and storytelling of the late McDonald, with a zest of social satire and larger than life villains and not quite heroes that was his trademark. A worthy set of rediscoveries. ~ Maxim Jakubowski
This is a single volume containing two comic novels about kidnapping from best-selling, award winning author of FLETCH. Two brilliant kidnapping novels appearing here for the first time in three decades - and the first time ever in a single volume. Two precocious eight-year-old boys...two teams of kidnappers, in way over their heads...two opportunities for mayhem, danger, and the trenchant social satire no crime writer has ever delivered like Gregory Mcdonald.
