This is interesting. Of course the mystery is not revealed until the last few pages and although some of it I guessed, I certainly didn’t guess it all … very clever. Sal wakes up in the back of a taxi on a cliff top in Cornwall. She is drugged, remembers nothing and is staggering around dangerously close to the edge when she is rescued by a dog walker. We then, with her in first-person narrative, attempt to discover how and why she is there. Post-natal depression? (She has two small children.) Suicide? attempt to get her husband’s attention? All these things are explored. Her family gather round: a possessive, professional mother-in-law, her down-to-earth shopkeeper parents, a brother with a new celeb girl friend. Some help, some hinder as we fumble through clues and questions. The poor woman is indeed very confused and begins to believe herself ill. Help is obviously needed. ~ Sarah Broadhurst
