This is a beautifully composed literary love story set just after World War II and told partly in flashback of the war itself and the eventful and traumatic time inflicted on the lives of the two main characters, which strain their relationship to breaking point and force them apart. The writing style is lucid and subtle, and vividly conveys the complexities of the characters' motivations.
Following on from The Boy I Love, Marion Husband's highly acclaimed debut novel,Paper Moon explores the complexities of love and loyalty against a backdrop of a world transformed by war.
