"A thoroughly entertaining and oh-so tricky murder mystery set in a stately home as a weekend convention celebrates the literary, film and TV creation of Dahlia Lively."
This start to a new series arrives in bells and whistles style, teamed with a smart plot and glorious characters you have an absolute joy of a read in your hands. Fabulous 1930’s sleuth Dahlia Lively has appeared on the page, as well as been played by actresses on TV and the big screen. When a weekend convention is booked at the stately home where the author of the series lived, the mix of literary, television and movie celebrities, event organisers, and fans creates chaos and intrigue when murder is declared. I will admit that I pulled my crime solving hat on and rubbed my hands with glee as I read the invitation list and took in the plan of the house and grounds. While there are a whole host of characters to get to know, author Katy Watson encourages each vivid and vibrant individual to stand out in their own right. The three famous actresses create a captivating crime fighting trio, their different ages adding to the inclusive experience. I adored the setting and backstory, it anchored me in place while understanding of the connections and relationships grew. I applauded the ending, this series promises much and I look forward to A Very Lively Murder which appears next. Stimulating and rewarding, this novel thoroughly deserves its LoveReading Star Book award, we can highly recommend joining The Three Dahlias.
