After leaving his job as a Military Police major, Jack Reacher roams the United States taking odd jobs. He’ll arrive in town, come across someone who needs his help, solve a mystery and take out the bad guys, and then get on the next bus out of town. Reacher is never looking for trouble, but trouble always finds him.

The Jack Reacher books can be read in any order, but here they are in the order in which they were written. Lee Child's debut novel, Killing Floor, was written after he was made redundant from his television job in Manchester, and introduced his much-admired maverick hero.  Born in Coventry, he now lives in America. As of book 25, he began to collaborate with his younger brother Andrew for the next instalments. Andrew Child - already a suspense and thriller writer under his birth name Andrew Grant -  is set to take over the series thereafter. Lee Child: "He was the first to read Killing Floor all those years ago, and was the world’s first Reacher fan. We’re going to work on the next few together, and then he’ll strike out on his own."

Right from Killing Floor, book #1 when Reacher gets off a bus in a small town in Georgia and is thrown into the county jail, for a murder he didn’t commit, to Reacher #26 Better Off Dead which was published in October 2021, he doesn't back down from a problem.
