1 million free books - 25 titles - 40,000 copies of each - 20,000 people to give away these books – and you could be one of them!

We are very excited that the inaugural World Book Night will take place on Saturday 5 March 2011, two days after World Book Day. That evening one million books will be given away by an army of 20,000 passionate book lovers to members of the public across the UK and Ireland – and you could be part of that ‘army’. Why not volunteer to be one of these World Book Night ‘givers’? It should be great fun and couldn’t be easier. If you are successful with your application, you will be sent 48 copies of the book you chose and these can be picked up at your local library or bookshop. How and to whom you give these books away is entirely up to you but with over 1,100 libraries and almost 800 bookstores signed up as World Book Night partners, there will be a huge number of events going on that night. You can throw your own party. You can give away the books on the street, in the pub, outside the cinema, in your local hospital, on the beach, in your house, on a bus, in your library. It’s down to what you feel comfortable with and what you think will take this book you love to an audience who might not have read it. To find out more and to apply, simply visit our special section on Lovereading. You ONLY have until midnight on Monday 24 January 2011 to apply, so don’t delay! In the Lovereading office, we’ve already chosen our favourites from the 25 give-away titles, so if you’re not sure which one to choose, why not select one of ours (below)?
