We have loads on the site to keep you occupied in what’s left of whatever the winter throws at us. As ever, we have our featured Books of the Month, our Debuts of the Month, our Guest Editor (in Feb it’s the romantic Carmen Reid).

We also have special sections for The TV Book Club, which is currently reviewing ten great books over ten weeks and the very exciting inaugural World Book Night in which 1 million books will be given away (yes given away!) in just ONE night.

Three Books of the Month – not to miss

This month we have 3 real favourites that we would hate for you to miss. Firstly what we’re calling our MEGA of the month, Maggie O’Farrell’s The Hand that First Held Mine, which was the recent winner of the Costa Novel of the Year Award. Next the light-hearted but impeccably researched account of all our great fallings-out 1,000 Years of annoying the French by Stephen Clarke. Finally the perfect book to read over the winter months Reading on Location, perfect if you are thinking about booking a holiday but not sure where to go. The book is a great way to find out more about a city or a country through the books and literature written about it.
