Food and drink A-listers gathered at The Royal Exchange in London this evening, to celebrate the annual Fortnum & Mason Food and Drink Awards.

The prestigious awards champion the achievements of the UK’s current and emerging writers, publishers, photographers, broadcasters and personalities who encourage us to enjoy and discover more about food and drink through their work.

The ceremony was presented by chef and broadcaster, Andi Oliver, alongside celebrated chef and Awards judging panel chair, Angela Hartnett OBE. The star-studded audience included Saturday Kitchen host Matt Tebbutt, Tom Parker Bowles, TV star Fay Ripley, Liam Charles, Ravneet Gill, Oisin Rogers and Nisha Katona.

The winners were selected by an independent panel of expert judges comprising some of the most talented figures in their fields: Angela Clutton, Itamar Srulovich, Kate Hawkings, Leyla Kazim, Mark Andrew MW and Will Hawkes.

Writer, Fuchsia Dunlop, won Food Book of the Year for Invitation to a Banquet, her epic exploration of China’s culinary heritage.

The judging team were wholehearted in their praise for the Debut Food Book winner, Ultra-Processed People, Chris van Tulleken’s eye-opening and in-depth investigation into the science, economics, history and production of ultra-processed food.

Emiko Davies won Cookery Book of the Year for Gohan. Her first book about Japanese cuisine brings together the recipes, stories and memories of her upbringing and is a beautiful celebration on the simple nature of Japanese home cooking.

Debut Cookery Book went to pastry chef Philip Khoury for A New Way to Bake a reimagining of cakes, bakes and desserts using plant-based ingredients.

Henry Jeffreys won Drink Book of the Year  for his book Vines in a Cold Climate which is an illuminating and entertaining account that takes you behind the scenes of the English wine revolution.

Wine experts Jane Lopes and Jonathan Ross were awarded Debut Drink Book for How to Drink Australian, a comprehensive, thoroughly researched guide to modern Australian wine.
