Transworld has announced that the latest and “most ambitious” Robert Langdon novel to date from bestselling author Dan Brown will be published this year.  The Secret of Secrets, will hit the shelves on 9th September 2025. And we are giddy with excietement here at LoveReading. Long-time fans of Brown's writing, we'll keep you apprised.

This will be his sixth book featuring Harvard symbiologist Langdon – who first appeared in 2000’s Angels & Demons, and closely followed by the worldwide publishing sensation The Da Vinci Code in 2003.

Arriving eight years after Origin, the last Langdon novel, The Secret of Secrets has been described as “a propulsive, twisty, thought-provoking masterpiece" set in Prague, in which "Langdon must pit his wits against forces unknown to recover the woman he loves".

What is the Robert Langdon Series?

Brown’s novels have been published in 56 languages with more than 250 million copies in print. In case you haven't read them, Brown's Robert Langdon series is a popular collection of thrillers featuring the Harvard symbologist, Robert Langdon, as he unravels puzzles and conspiracies often involving art, history, and religion.

1. Angels & Demons 

The first book in the series introduces Robert Langdon as he is called to investigate the murder of a physicist at a Swiss research center. The investigation leads him to the Illuminati, a secret society believed to be behind the murder. Langdon teams up with scientist Vittoria Vetra as they race to prevent a devastating act of terrorism in Vatican City. The book delves into the conflict between science and religion and introduces the reader to the high-stakes world of secret societies.

2. The Da Vinci Code 

The most famous of the series, this book finds Langdon in Paris, where he is called to the Louvre to investigate the murder of the curator. As he works with cryptologist Sophie Neveu, they uncover hidden messages within famous works of art, leading to a trail of secrets that could shake the foundations of Christianity. 

3. The Lost Symbol

This time set in Washington D.C., this third instalment follows Langdon as he is invited to give a lecture at the United States Capitol, only to find himself involved in a mysterious disappearance and a hidden Masonic secret. As Langdon delves deeper into the world of Freemasonry and the history of the U.S. government, he faces a race against time to uncover an ancient secret that could change the world.

4. Inferno 

In this outing Langdon wakes up in a hospital with no memory of the last few days and a mysterious woman named Sienna Brooks by his side. Together, they travel across Europe, deciphering clues related to Dante’s Divine Comedy, as they try to stop a global catastrophe related to overpopulation and genetic engineering. 

5. Origin 

Origin sees Robert Langdon invited to the Guggenheim in Bilbao by billionaire futurist Edgar Allan Poe, who promises to reveal two questions: Where do we come from? Where are we going? After Poe is found dead, Langdon and scientist Ambra Vidal work to uncover the answers hidden in Poe’s final research, leading them to groundbreaking discoveries about the future of humanity and artificial intelligence.

The New Robert Langdon Thriller

In book number six, Langdon travels to Prague to attend a groundbreaking lecture by Katherine Solomon - a prominent noetic scientist with whom he has recently begun a relationship. Katherine is on the verge of publishing an explosive book that contains startling discoveries about the nature of human consciousness and threatens to disrupt centuries of established belief.
