Wai-Yeung Wong is currently Chair Professor and Head of the Department of Chemistry at Hong Kong Baptist University. He received his B.Sc. (1992) and Ph.D. (1995) degrees from the University of Hong Kong. After postdoctoral training with Prof. F. Albert Cotton at Texas A&M University in 1996 and Profs. The Lord Lewis (FRS) and Paul R. Raithby at the University of Cambridge in 1997, he joined Hong Kong Baptist University as an Assistant Professor in 1998, rising through the academic ranks to Chair Professor in 2011 at the age of 40. His research interests lie in the areas of metallopolymers and metallo-organic molecules with energy functions and photofunctional properties. His research activities are documented in more than 440 scientific articles, 2 edited books, 16 book chapters and 2 US patents. Professor Wong was recently named in the list of Highly Cited Researchers 2014 in the Materials Science category published by Thomson Reuters.
