Patricia M. Shields is a Regents' Professor in the Department of Political Science at Texas State University. Her scholarship includes works on peace, pragmatism and public administration, democracy, gender, military studies and research methods. She has edited the journal Armed Forces & Society since 2001 and is a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration. Maurice Hamington is Professor of Philosophy, and Affiliate Faculty in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Portland State University.
