Morton Wagman was born in Brooklyn, New York. Aside from a stint in the US Army, he has spent most of his life in higher education in New York City. He has earned degrees from Brooklyn College (B.A.) and Columbia University (M.A., Ph.D.), and has taught at Brooklyn College (CUNY) (1966-1970) and Kingsborough Community College (CUNY) (1970-present), where currently he is a Professor of History.
