Mehita Iqani is Associate Professor in Media Studies at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. Her research explores the multiple intersections between consumer culture and the media in relation to discourse, power, aspiration, identity, and global culture. She has a monograph forthcoming on the cultural politics of postconsumer waste.

Fernando Resende is Associate Professor in Culture and Media Studies at the Federal Fluminense University (UFF) in Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Primarily interested in the study of narratives of conflicts and diasporic movements, dealing with issues related to both physical and symbolic zones, his research focuses on theory and philosophy of communication; journalism; culture; comparative media and documentary studies; global south theory; critical cultural studies; and the impact of geopolitical discursive relations (narratives and conflicts) on the imaged geographies of East/West and, in particular, the imaginat
