He is a former newspaper reporter and editor and currently works as director of marketing and public relations for Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden. He lives in Ocean Isle Beach with his wife Bonnie. They have three grown children and two still at home. Hoffman is also the author of Fun With the Family in North Carolina, Day Trips TheCarolinas, and Day Trips from Raleigh-Durham, all published by Globe Pequot.
