Igor Bolvashenkov, Ph.D., is a Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Energy Conversion Technology of Technical University of Munich (TUM), Munich, Germany. He obtained his M.Sc. (1981) and Ph.D. degrees (1989) in Electrical Engineering from Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping, Leningrad, USSR. From 1987 to 1993, he worked as an Associate Professor at the Murmansk State Technical University, Russia. Since 2004, he has worked at the Institute of Energy Conversion Technology at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Munich, Germany. He specializes in the development and simulation of electric propulsion system for ships, cars, trains and aircrafts and comprehensive analysis of their efficiency, reliability, and fault tolerance. He has published four books, more than 150 scientific articles, chapters, and patents.
