Eric Wagner is author of After the Blast: The Ecological Recovery of Mount St. Helens (University of Washington Press, 2020) and Penguins in the Desert (Oregon State University Press, 2018), and wrote the text for he Once and Future River: Reclaiming the Duwamish (University of Washington Press, 2016), a collaboration with photographer Tom Reese. He has received fellowships from the Knight Center for Specialized Journalism and the Institute for Journalism and Natural Resources, and his writing has appeared in The Atlantic, Orion, Audubon, High Country News, Slate, and Smithsonian, among other places. He earned a Ph.D. in biology from the University of Washington.
