CONSTANCE TIBBS HOBSON, Professor Emerita, Department of Music, Howard University, Washington, D.C. is a performer, author, and consultant. Her biography (with Jean Cazort) of the late Hazel Harrison, Born To Play, was published by Greenwood Press in 1983. Along with Hortense R. Kerr, she initiated the Hobson-Kerr Piano Duo, which focuses attention on the two-piano literature of African-American Composers. DEBORRA RICHARDSON is an Archives Specialist with the Duke Ellington Collection, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. She has been active in the study of Information Science since 1980. Introduced to this field through African American collections at the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center, Howard University, her work experience has included African-American music collections, and she has published articles on African-American music.
