Previously, he completed a PhD in Kinesiology at The University of British Columbia and held a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Toronto. His research is broadly focused on physical culture and the meanings, practices, and technologies associated with the active body. In 2016, he was the recipient of the Sociology of Sport Journal Early Career Researcher Award
