Arian P. Kalinin is Head of the Department of Endocrine Surgery at the Moscow Medical Region Institute (Moscow, Russia), Head of the Russian Centre of Endocrine Surgery, Vice President of the Russian Association of Endocrinologists, and President of the Moscow Regional Association of Endocrinologists. In 1967, he earned his PhD for work on surgery of the parathyroid glands. He performs research on surgery of the adrenal gland and thyroid gland, analgesia in endocrine surgery, and primary hyperparathyroidism. Dr. Kalinin is a member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. He has published 15 books in Russian and 725 scientific articles in Russian and international journals and collections.

Alexey Pavlov is Professor and Head of the Department of Histology, Cytology and Embryology at Yaroslavl State Medical Academy. In 1994, he earned his PhD for work on the histology and embryology of the parathyroid glands. His particular interests are the morphology and cytology of the parathyroid glands. He
