Fil Reid writes historical fiction and historical romance for Dragonblade Publishing in the US. She lives in Cornwall with her husband and rescue dog, and has five children and seven grandchildren.
She won the Dragonblade new writers' competiton back in 2021, the Readers' Favorite Gold Medal in 2022, and the Uncaged Book Reviews' Raven Award in 2024. Her short stories have also won prizes, her latest was shortlisted for the Bedford Prize and is included in their anthology of shortlisted entries, for sale on amazon.
In her spare time she likes to read (of course) both fiction and non-fiction, and to sew, which, as she once told her needlework teacher mother, is just common sense. She makes dolls, finger puppets, clothes, embroideries, cross stitches, soft toys etc often from her own patterns. She doesn't like to sit with idle hands. She's an autodidact and has taught herself Latin and has now moved on to Ancient Greek in an effort to stimulate her brain as much as possible. The fact that she has Asperger's Syndrome might be why she can concentrate so well on one particular thing to the exclusion of all else.
