Insiders Guide to Campground Hosting in Florida Parks: Free Campsites for Volunteers
This audiobook is narrated by a digital voice. Insiders Guide to Campground Hosting in Florida Parks is a resource guide for all those who are full-time or even part-time RVing in the state of Florida. There are hundreds of different public land areas and non-profit organizations that would be very happy to get hard-working and dependable volunteers to camp inside their parks, forests, etc, and work part-time as a volunteer. The vast majority of these types of assignments are temporary (between 2 to 4 months at a time) but a rare few can lead into a permanent placement. Most, if not all, require that the person(s) volunteering have a self-contained recreational vehicle of some kind and the ability to buy your own food and pay your own bills. Very few of our assignments in Florida pay wages of any kind. There are a few exceptions to this rule. Our great public land areas are always needing assistance with keeping the facilities maintained, helping with the public guests, keeping all the facilities and outside areas cleaned and updated as much as possible. And, to assist in special projects with the personnel such as dressing up and doing historical presentations, conducting learning sessions with kids, counting wildlife, and removing invasive species. Our guide has information on all the volunteer places within the state that exchanges work for campsites. As well as general information on the duties required, time to be spent, and other amenities they may provide for their volunteers. These places are also some of the most beautiful in our area. Come on down and volunteer. They need the help ALL YEAR ROUND.

Illuminated By Water: Nature, Memory and the Delights of a Fishing Life
Brought to you by Penguin. Travel-writer, novelist and singer-songwriter Malachy Tallack has been passionate about fishing since he was young. Growing up in Shetland, with its myriad lochs, he and his brother would roam the island in search of trout, and in so doing discovered a sense of freedom, of wonder, and an abiding passion. But why is it that catching a fish - or simply contemplating catching a fish - can be so thrilling, so captivating? Why is it that time spent beside water can be imprinted so sharply in the memory? Why is it that what seems such a simple act - that of casting a line and hoping - can feel so rich in mystery? Illuminated by Water is Malachy's personal attempt to understand that freedom, and to trace the origins and sources of that sense of wonder. He shares the appeal of fishing, its intense joys and frustrations, the steadying effect it has both at water's edge and in the memory, and the contemplation of nature and landscape that comes with being an angler. He writes about fishing expeditions, from English canals and Scottish lochs to lakes in Canada and New Zealand, and he reflects on other aspects of angling, from its cultural significance and the emerging moral complexities to the intricacies of tying a fly. Beautifully written and hugely engaging, this book both articulates the inexplicable lure of the river and the endless desire to return to it, and illuminates a passion that has shaped the way so many see and think about the natural world. © Malachy Tallack 2022 (P) Penguin Audio 2022

Old Glory: A Voyage Down the Mississippi
The author of Bad Land realizes a lifelong dream as he navigates the waters of the Mississippi River in a spartan sixteen-foot motorboat, producing yet another masterpiece of contemporary American travel writing. In the course of his voyage, Raban records the mercurial caprices of the river and the astonishingly varied lives of the people who live along its banks. Whether he is fishing for walleye or hunting coon, discussing theology in Prairie Du Chien or race relations in Memphis, he is an expert observer of the heartland’s estrangement from America’s capitals of power and culture, and its helpless nostalgia for its lost past. Witty, elegiac, and magnificently erudite, Old Glory is as filled with strong currents as the Mississippi itself.
