Clamor: How Noise Took Over the World and How We Can Take It Back
An eye- (and ear-) opening investigation into how the cacophony of our ever-noisier world affects our health, our well-being, and our planet. Early-morning jackhammering from construction down the block. The dull roar of jet overflights. Your officemate's phone conversations. Noise is everywhere, disrupting our sleep, ratcheting up our stress, destroying our concentration—yet it's a problem that many of us shrug off once the immediate annoyance passes. In Clamor, Chris Berdik reveals noise as one of the most pervasive, yet underacknowledged, pollutants in our daily lives, the harms of which extend far beyond our hearing, from our children's learning outcomes to our longevity to the natural world around us. We systemically neglect life's sonic dimension at our peril—not only driving up the racket but failing to harness sound's great potential. Berdik introduces us to the researchers, rock stars, architects, and many others who are finding surprising ways to make our world sound not only less bad, but better. Rising above the ever-increasing din, Clamor is an urgent—and ultimately inspiring—call to reconsider our relationship to our world's soundscapes.

The Warren Court and the Democratic Constitution
From 1953 to 1969, Earl Warren served as chief justice of the US Supreme Court. During that time, the Warren Court made a number of historically important decisions involving anti-miscegenation laws (Loving v. Virginia), the right to privacy (Griswold v. Connecticut), and, perhaps most important, racial segregation (Brown v. Board of Education). In The Warren Court and Democratic Constitution, Horwitz highlights the radical shift in traditional jurisprudential ideas that occurred during Earl Warren's tenure as chief justice. He details how Brown v. Board of Education exerted a powerful influence on the agenda of the Warren Court and reshaped almost every subject area in constitutional law. With this decision, the concept of a 'living Constitution,' the idea that the Constitution ought to develop to accommodate social change, emerged and was institutionalized by the Court. The Warren Court's jurisprudence is radically opposed to the current Supreme Court's emphasis on originalism, the approach of interpreting the Constitution according to its meaning at the time of writing. Listeners interested in an alternative to originalism, as well as Supreme Court history and civil rights, will gain a deeper understanding of the profound impact of the Warren Court on many areas of modern American government and society.

Space to Grow: Unlocking the Final Economic Frontier
Space is a place of unparalleled possibility for humanity, and it's undergoing a revolution. A wave of companies led by gutsy entrepreneurs are unlocking opportunities that fire the imagination. No, it's not hotels on Mars or day trips to orbit (yet), but it's an awe-inspiring transformation driven by innovative technologies, creative approaches, hard work, and—for the first time—market forces. Above all, this revolution is uncovering the simple but unfamiliar truth that space is a place: a place where countries, markets, and each of us can play a vital role in realizing some of our biggest, boldest dreams. But we won't succeed through dreams alone. The space economy is just that—an economy—governed by the same laws of supply and demand that apply here on Earth. The authors, who teach a highly popular course on the topic at Harvard Business School, bring the revolution in space to life through players you know—like SpaceX and Blue Origin—and many you may not, like Astroscale, founded by a Japanese IT executive who quit his job to start a company to clean up space debris. They also bring to bear fundamental tools from economics to understand how the market in space is forming, how it's fast becoming a source of value for businesses across industries and for society as a whole, and how we can best ensure that its growth benefits us all.

Union with the Resurrected Christ: Eschatological New Creation and New Testament Biblical Theology
Southwestern Journal of Theology 2023 Book Award (Biblical Studies) Union with Christ is an important theological and practical concept that has received considerable attention in recent years. But not much consideration has been given to this union and its benefits in light of Jesus's resurrection and ascension. In this follow-up to his monumental A New Testament Biblical Theology, G. K. Beale summarizes and expands on that work with an eye to fleshing out the theological implications of the resurrection and ascension. Beale explains that Christ's resurrection and ascension place him as the beginning of the eschatological fulfillment of the new creational kingdom. Specifically, Christ is the fulfillment of a cluster of nineteen Old Testament end-time expectations. These eschatological realities attributed to Christ are imprinted on believers through their dynamic union and identification with him. Through careful exegesis, Beale explores these facets and deliberately draws out important practical applications for everyday Christian living in the overlap of the old creation and the new. Students of the New Testament will benefit from this important contribution to New Testament theology.

Leadership Is Worthless...But Leading Is Priceless: What I Learned from 9/11, the NFL, and Ukraine
Practical leadership for difficult times, from a crisis management expert who has led response teams through the 9/11 Pentagon attack, NFL on-field medical emergencies, and the war in Ukraine. Dr. Thom Mayer knows first-hand that true leadership stems from our actions, not our positions, especially in times of crisis. Drawing on his experiences heading the 9/11 Pentagon rescue efforts, dealing with on-field emergencies in the NFL (he was at Damar Hamlin's bedside after his injury), training mobile response medical teams in Ukraine, and more, Mayer covers such topics as why trust is vital for innovation; the critical role of failure in devising new ways of leading; how questions fuel innovative action; why every leader should have the title Chief Story Teller; and the importance of distinguishing between data, knowledge, and wisdom. Each chapter begins with a provocative and seemingly contradictory statement, like the book's title, and includes stories, historical examples, and literary lessons selected to guide pragmatic and practical solutions.

What Is Covenant Theology?: Tracing God’s Promises through the Son, the Seed, and the Sacraments
Understanding the Basics and Blessings of Covenant Theology From animal sacrifice in the Old Testament to baptism and Communion in the New Testament, the Bible can seem like it contains vastly different instructions for how God's people are to worship him through visible means. But Scripture is a complete story of redemption, one that is breathtaking in its unity. By observing how all biblical events connect through God's covenants with his people, believers can better grasp the beauty of the triune God and the breathtaking unity of Scripture, knowing the Father, through the Son, by the Spirit. In this practical introduction, professor Ryan McGraw gives listeners a framework for understanding the structure of the Bible. Explaining the blessing of covenant theology, he reveals how the sacraments illustrate God's relationship with his people throughout the ages and help unify all parts of Scripture, from God's promises in Genesis to their fulfillment in Revelation. Life in the Son: A Study of the Doctrine of Perseverance
A deep study on the doctrine of eternal security Does one moment of faith secure a person's eternal destiny with God-even if that person later stops following and trusting in Jesus? Or does a person have to keep on trusting and following Jesus to remain in a saving relationship with God? Now expanded with new chapters and research, this landmark book continues to offer one of the most penetrating studies on the controversial doctrine of eternal security, perseverance, and apostasy in the New Testament. Calling into question the popular 'once saved, always saved' belief, internationally respected pastor and scholar Dr. Robert Shank reveals that the question we should be asking is not, 'Is the believer secure?' but rather, 'What does it mean to be a believer?' Straightforward, thorough, and grounded in biblical understanding, this book warns Christians about dangers that could potentially lead a believer to become an unbeliever (falling away from faith) and share in the unbeliever's eternal condemnation.
