Die Erinnerungen kommen Stück für Stück. So auch die Erinnerung an seine Verhaftung und dass er 1932 in einem 'Laboratorium für Einfrierung und Regeneration' auf den berüchtigten Solowki-Inseln eingefroren wurde. Es wird eine Zeitreise durch das Russland des 20 Jahrhunderts, bei der er auch seine damals unvollendete Liebe wiederfindet, die sich in ihrer Enkelin Nastja vollendet. Ein herausragendes Sprecherteam mit Sylvester Groth, Jennipher Antoni und Thomas Sarbacher machen die ungekürzte Lesung des Romans zu einem eindrucksvollen Hörerlebnis. Die Übersetzung des Romans bewirkte Ganna-Maria Braungardt.
