Es sind mitunter sehr an den Dadaismus erinnernde literarische Formen, die er in diesen elf absurden Angelegenheiten deutlich hervortreten ließ. Ringelnatz präsentiert sich in diesem Werk wie ein weiser Narr, mit Sinn für das Unsinnige, das dennoch Tiefe und Ernsthaftigkeit besitzt. 'Nervosipopel' ist ein literarischer Ausflug in eine ganz sonderbare Wunderwelt; man bereist fremde Sterne und trifft auf Feen, auch auf Matrosen, Droschkenkutscher, Gold- und Walfische. Sogar ein sprechendes Pferd tummelt sich, wie man es aus Märchen kennt, und immer wieder ist es etwas nahezu Unerklärbares, Geheimnisvolles, das es nur so bei Ringelnatz gibt.
