Living with Purpose in a Polarizing World: Guidance from Biblical Narratives
How should Christians navigate an increasingly polarized post-Christian world? There is strong evidence of the cultural shift away from Christianity in the United States, which has already happened in other parts of the world. Compounding the shift is the division among Christians in how this is handled. The authors have observed four basic responses: (1) assimilation and acceptance of new cultural norms, (2) withdrawal from cultural engagement, (3) anger directed toward society (and toward other Christians who don't seethe issues as they do), and (4) seeking power to "take back society." This creates two separate challenges: walking with Christ in the midst of cultural shifts and representing Christ as one church before the watching world. Scripture speaks into this dilemma in important ways. First, how do we navigate these societal challenges? Micah calls us to "seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly." Jesus calls us to be salt and light while knowing that "in the world you will have trouble." Second, Scripture is filled with narratives of God's people living out their faith in the face of a world hostile toward their God. We can learn from them. Third, Jesus calls us to represent him with oneness before the watching world. In this book, the authors take us through eight examples of Old Testament biblical narratives and modern examples and ask, "And who knows whether for just a time like this you have come to this position in your life?"

101 Bible Questions: And the Surprising Answers You May Not Hear in Church
This book asks the hard, forbidden, or taboo questions about Christianity-and offers surprising biblical answers you may never hear in church. "Don't ask too many questions. Just go with the flow." This is the mantra of legalistic religion. It leaves many of us wallowing in confusion as we still have burning questions about our faith. Sometimes, these questions almost seem off-limits: Is there actually an unforgivable sin? Can we lose our salvation? Is masturbation always a sin? Am I really supposed to give 10 percent of my income to the church? Is divorce and remarriage wrong for a Christian? Andrew Farley offers surprising, yet scriptural, answers to these controversial questions and many others. Andrew's no-nonsense style will challenge you and catapult you into a radical new outlook on God's grace.

Timeless and moral economic wisdom for life's choices and changes derived from the parables of the New Testament by famed free market advocate and Catholic priest Robert Sirico. Libraries are filled with books on the parables of Christ, and rightly so. In the words of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, "While civilizations have come and gone, these stories continue to teach us anew with their freshness and their humanity." Two millennia later, the New Testament parables remain ubiquitous, and yet, few have stopped to glean from one of Christ's most prevalent analogies: money. In The Economics of the Parables, Rev. Robert Sirico pulls back the veil of modernity to reveal the timeless economic wisdom of the parables. Twelve central stories-including "The Laborers in the Vineyard," "The Rich Fool," "The Five Talents," and "The Faithful Steward"-serve as his guide, revealing practical lessons in caring for the poor, stewarding wealth, distributing inheritances, navigating income disparities, and resolving family tensions. As contemporary as any business manual and sure to outlast them, The Economics of the Parables equips any economically informed reader to uncover the enduring financial truths of the parables in a reasonable, sensible, and life-empowering manner.

'What is at stake is authenticity. . . . Sooner or later Christians tire of public meetings that are profoundly inauthentic, regardless of how well (or poorly) arranged, directed, performed. We long to meet, corporately, with the living and majestic God and to offer him the praise that is his due.'--D. A. Carson Worship is a hot topic, but the ways that Christians from different traditions view it vary greatly. What is worship? More important, what does it look like in action, both in our corporate gatherings and in our daily lives? These concerns--the blending of principle and practice--are what Worship by the Book addresses. Cutting through cultural clichés, D. A. Carson, Mark Ashton, Kent Hughes, and Timothy Keller explore, respectively: - Worship Under the Word - Following in Cranmer's Footsteps - Free Church Worship: The Challenge of Freedom - Reformed Worship in the Global City 'This is not a comprehensive theology of worship,' writes Carson. 'Still less is it a sociological analysis of current trends or a minister's manual chockfull of 'how to' instructions.' Rather, this book offers pastors, other congregational leaders, and seminary students a thought-provoking biblical theology of worship, followed by a look at how three very different traditions of churchmanship might move from this theological base to a better understanding of corporate worship. Running the gamut from biblical theology to historical assessment all the way to sample service sheets, Worship by the Book shows how local churches in diverse traditions can foster corporate worship that is God-honoring, Word-revering, heartfelt, and historically and culturally informed. Service outlines and additional resources are available in the audiobook companion PDF download.

Church Plantology: The Art and Science of Planting Churches
The first comprehensive textbook on effective church planting from a veteran church planter. The Apostle Paul was a veteran church planter who 'laid a foundation like a wise and master builder' and there is much we can learn from his example. Paul indicated that there were basic skills and experiences required to successfully plant a church. Church Plantology examines the wide variety of church planting methods and ideologies in contemporary pastoral practice and outlines a biblical model based on the New Testament. During his time in prison, Paul spent much of his time writing to Titus, Timothy, and others who'd served alongside him in the trenches to complete their training as church plantings. We can continue to apply these time-tested, proven methods, following the pioneering example of the early church. Today, the casualty rate in is high. What if we could reduce the odds of failing? Church Plantology by Peyton Jones is a robust guide to planting that will help planters to provide the foundation necessary to survive beyond the initial first years so that they don't end up a walking statistic. Graphics and reflection questions are available in the audiobook companion PDF download.
