FROM THE BEST-SELLING AUTHOR OF SKINNY DIP AND RAZOR GIRL, A HILARIOUS NEW NOVEL OF SOCIAL AND POLITICAL INTRIGUE, SET AGAINST THE GLITTERING BACKDROP OF FLORIDA'S GOLD COAST It's the height of the Palm Beach charity ball season: for every disease or cause, there's a reason for the local luminaries to eat (minimally), drink (maximally), and be seen. But when a prominent high-society dowager suddenly vanishes during a swanky gala, and is later found dead in a concrete grave, panic and chaos erupt. Kiki Pew was notable not just for her wealth and her jewels-she was an ardent fan of the Winter White House resident just down the road and a founding member of the Potussies, a group of women dedicated to supporting their President. Never one to miss an opportunity to play to his base, the President immediately declares that Kiki was the victim of rampaging immigrant hordes. This, it turns out, is far from the truth. The truth might lie in the middle of the highway, where a bizarre discovery brings the First Lady's mo-torcade to a grinding halt (followed by some grinding between the First Lady and a lovestruck Secret Ser¬vice agent). Enter Angie Armstrong, wildlife wrangler extraordinaire, who arrives at her own conclusions after she is summoned to the posh island to deal with a mysterious and impolite influx of huge, hungry pythons . . . Carl Hiaasen brightens even the darkest of days, and Squeeze Me is pure, unadulterated Hiaasen. Ir-reverent, ingenious, and highly entertaining, Squeeze Me perfectly captures the absurdity of our times. "The undisputed master of organized chaos . . . Hiaasen's satire is a fierce unmuzzled snarl, swiftly followed by a painfully ironic bite. Quite simply, brilliant." THE SUNDAY TIMES "Carl Hiaasen [is] a superb national satirist . . . A great American writer about the great American subjects of ambition, greed, vanity, and disappointment." ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY "[Hiaasen is] a master of the comic crime novel." THE DAILY TELEGRAPH

INSTANT NATIONAL BESTSELLER "A manifesto to happiness-the one found when you stop running from who you are." -New York Times Book Review "An extraordinary book, acrobatic on the level of the sentence, symphonic across its many movements-and this is a book that moves…My Year Abroad is a wild ride-a caper, a romance, a bildungsroman, and something of a satire of how to get filthy rich in rising Asia." - Vogue From the award-winning author of Native Speaker and On Such a Full Sea, an exuberant, provocative story about a young American life transformed by an unusual Asian adventure - and about the human capacities for pleasure, pain, and connection. Tiller is an average American college student with a good heart but minimal aspirations. Pong Lou is a larger-than-life, wildly creative Chinese American entrepreneur who sees something intriguing in Tiller beyond his bored exterior and takes him under his wing. When Pong brings him along on a boisterous trip across Asia, Tiller is catapulted from ordinary young man to talented protégé, and pulled into a series of ever more extreme and eye-opening experiences that transform his view of the world, of Pong, and of himself. In the breathtaking, "precise, elliptical prose" that Chang-rae Lee is known for (The New York Times), the narrative alternates between Tiller's outlandish, mind-boggling year with Pong and the strange, riveting, emotionally complex domestic life that follows it, as Tiller processes what happened to him abroad and what it means for his future. Rich with commentary on Western attitudes, Eastern stereotypes, capitalism, global trade, mental health, parenthood, mentorship, and more, My Year Abroad is also an exploration of the surprising effects of cultural immersion-on a young American in Asia, on a Chinese man in America, and on an unlikely couple hiding out in the suburbs. Tinged at once with humor and darkness, electric with its accumulating surprises and suspense, My Year Abroad is a novel that only Chang-rae Lee could have written, and one that will be read and discussed for years to come.

In 1722 Peter the Great introduced a system of positions and ranks for the military, the government, and the Russian court which enabled commoners to gain a modicum of nobility through service to the state. He did so in order to diminish the power of the hereditary nobility with whom he was struggling. This led to large bureaucracies and an obsession with appearances and status, a situation ripe for the brilliant satire of “The Nose”. The story is an absurd, comic, surreal and sometimes grotesque send up of Major Kovalyov, who wakes up one morning to find his nose missing. The story has three parts. In part one, Kovalyov's barber finds his client's nose in his breakfast and is nabbed by the police when he tries to throw it off a bridge. In part two, Kovalyov awakes to find his nose gone. When he leaves to report the loss, runs into it on the street dressed in the uniform of an important official who outranks him. He chases it, but the nose eludes him until it is apprehended it is about to flee the city by coach. The nose is returned to Kovalyov, but it can't be re-attached, leading him to suspect that a curse has been placed on him. Meanwhile, the nose has become the talk of the town. In part three, the Major awakes with the nose fully intact. Things just drift back to normal. The story is a staple of Russian literature, has been staged and adapted numerous times, and has had a monument erected in its honor in St. Petersburg.
