Confucio y Mencio son dos de los mayores sabios de la historia de China. En los dos mil años que han pasado desde la época de Mencio, sus ideas y pensamientos siguen teniendo una gran influencia en la gente china. Incluso hoy en día se oye a menudo a la gente citar a este gran sabio.
Confucio fue consciente de ser el heredero de la cultura de las dinastías Xia, Shang y Zhou que le precedieron y que él transmitió, gracias a su profunda y arraigada cultura, a generaciones posteriores de chinos. Fue escrito por Sun Wu (Sun Tzu), un famoso general a finales del período de Primavera y Otoño, hace unos 2.500 años.
