Distributer Awaaz ghar"

"It's a touching tale of a young man who finds himself without shelter or food on a cold 'Autumn Night' in Moscow. The strong opening lines of the narrator set the stage nicely: 'Once in the autumn I happened to be in a very unpleasant and inconvenient position. In the town where I had just arrived and where I knew not a soul, I found myself without a farthing in my pocket and without a night's lodging.' Scavenging for something to eat around the 'steamship wharves,' he encounters another poor wretch, the young woman, Natasha, in similar circumstance if for different reasons. Together they scrounge a loaf of bread and take refuge from the elements (a bitterly cold, freezing rain) under an upside down skiff. Here he learns a little of her circumstances, including how her face came to be marked up, although he could probably already guess that. Her abusive husband has thrown her out, leaving her with a somewhat low opinion of the male of the species: 'What wretches all you men are! I'd burn you all in an oven; I'd cut you in pieces. If any one of you was dying I'd spit in his mouth, and not pity him a bit. Mean skunks! You wheedle and wheedle, you wag your tails like cringing dogs, and we fools give ourselves up to you, and it's all up with us! Immediately you trample us underfoot… Miserable loafers.' Famous Novels of the author Maxim Gorky: Goremyka Pavel, Published in English as Orphan Paul, Foma Gordeyev, Three of Them, Also translated as Three Men, The Mother, The Life of a Useless Man, A Confession, Okurov City, The Life of Matvei Kozhemyakin, The Artamonov Business, Life of Klim Samgin."

"Her Lover is a short story by Russian writer Maxim Gorky. Debates three views. The first one is human loneliness, lack of communication, fragmented and lost identity in modern industrialized Russian society, which was actually a general view in the early decades of the twentieth century. Secondly, Gorky endows his fictional character Teresa with the Romantic energy which enables her to survive her misery and loneliness by inventing an imaginary lover. Finally, the paper examines the views of prejudice and 'self-sufficiency' which put serious hurdles before real communication and thus cause the spiritual and moral decay in social life and relationships. Famous Novels of the author Maxim Gorky: Goremyka Pavel, Published in English as Orphan Paul, Foma Gordeyev, Three of Them, Also translated as Three Men, The Mother, The Life of a Useless Man, A Confession, Okurov City, The Life of Matvei Kozhemyakin, The Artamonov Business, Life of Klim Samgin."

3 Sad Stories - About People Desperate for Companionship
"There is something about the number 3. The Ancient Greeks believed 3 was the perfect number, and in China 3 has always been a lucky number, and they know a thing or two. Most religions also have 3 this and 3 that and, of course, in these more modern times, three’s a crowd may be too many, except when it’s a ménage à trois. It seems good things usually come in threes.Whatever history and culture says WE think 3, a hat-trick of stories, is a great number to explore themes and literary avenues that classic authors were so adept at creating. From their pens to your your ears."

Psychological Russian Stories Not by Dostoyevsky
"In this series we listen to short stories that are NOT by perhaps the most well-known author of this type. The Foundations of Fiction - Russian Realism
"In this series we turn the pages of classic short stories to put together the literary building blocks of how a particular genre or theme began, how it built its foundations to become the well-loved and well-worn genre that it is today.Do authors have the same ideas at more or less the same time? Or can they sniff out an opportunity as to which way the tastes of an audience are moving. Success undoubtedly builds success and in literary terms we can more politely say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and the surest way to reach a hungry readership is to build on the fortune and flair of your literary colleagues. Throughout literary history Russian writing has been both applauded and lauded as fiction of the first rank. It’s authors down the decades are many and each of them has consummate talents and knowledge that few, if any, can argue with. In this volume we present stories that explain and reveal Russian Realism, in ways that are absorbing, startling and capture a world with precise and literary verve.01 - Foundations of Fiction - Russian Realism - An Introduction2 - Diary of a Lunatic by Leo Tolstoy3 - Gooseberries by Anton Chekhov4 - An Honest Thief by Fyodor Dostoyevsky5 - Mumu by Ivan Turgenev6 - Old Fashioned Landowners by Nikolai Gogol7 - The City by Leonid Andreyev8 - Twenty-Six Men and a Girl by Maxim Gorky9 - Gentle Breathing by Ivan Bunin10 - The Signal by Vsevolod Garshin11 - The Revolutionist by Mikhail Petrovich Artzybashev12 - Dethroned by I N Potapenko13 - The General's Will by Vera Jelihovsky14 - Misery by Anton Chekhov15 - The Rendezvous by Ivan Turgenev16 - The Jew by Ivan Turgenev17 - The Bet by Anton Chekhov18 - The Murderer by Mikhail Bulgakov19 - Aloysha the Pot by Leo Tolstoy20 - The Peasant Marey by Fyodor Dostoyevsky21 - Her Lover by Maxim Gorky22 - About Love by Anton Chekhov23 - The District Doctor by Ivan Turgenev24 - Morphine by Mikhail Bulgakov25 - Silence by Leonid Andreyev"

Short Stories About Trickery & Deception
"As a general rule we are a trusting lot. You say something and, whilst I might disagree, I believe you are acting in good faith. Of course this may be just the beginning of a ruse. If I trust you I might let down my guard, I might seek to share and to create a bond between us. But, if you can't be trusted, if you have an ulterior motive I might lose out. In the hands of authors such as Maxim Gorky, Ella D'Arcy, Rudyard Kipling, Ivan Turgenev and may others reality may not be what it quite seems. 1 - Short Stories About Trickery & Deception - An Introduction 2 - The Man Who Would Be King - Part 1 by Rudyard Kipling 3 - The Man Who Would Be King - Part 2 by Rudyard Kipling 4 - Chelkash - Part 1 by Maxim Gorky 5 - Chelkash - Part 2 by Maxim Gorky 6 - Chelkash - Part 3 by Maxim Gorky 7 - Souls Belated by Edith Wharton 8 - The She-Wolf by Saki 9 - Jeff Peters as a Personal Magnet by O Henry 10 - The Wooing of Pastor Cummings by Georgia F Stewart 11 - Mrs Packletide's Tiger by Saki 12 - As the Crow Flies by John Davys Beresford 13 - The Rats in the Walls by H P Lovecraft 14 - The District Doctor by Ivan Turgenev 15 - Irremediable by Ella D'Arcy 16 - The Connoisseur by Perceval Gibbon 17 - The Kiss by Kate Chopin 18 - The Hired Baby, A Romance of the London Streets by Mary Mackay writing as Marie Corelli 19 - The Open Window by Saki 20 - Revenge by Samuel Blas 21 - Cheating The Gallows by Israel Zangwill 22 - Putois by Anatole France 23 - Post Mortem by Barry Pain"
