Google Speaks: Secrets of the Worlds Greatest Billionaire Entrepreneurs, Sergey Brin and Larry Page
In many ways, Google is the prototype of a successful twenty-first century company. It uses technology in new ways to make information universally accessible; promotes a corporate culture that encourages creativity among its employees; and takes its role as a corporate citizen very seriously, investing in green initiatives and developing the largest corporate foundation in the US. Following in the footsteps of her bestselling Warren Buffett Speaks -written in a conversational style that successfully captures the essence of these business leaders-Janet Lowe reveals the amazing story behind one of the most important new companies of our time by exploring the people and philosophies that have made Google a global phenomenon in less than 15 years. She offers an engaging look at how its founders transformed their vision of a better Internet search engine into a business colossus with about $16 billion in annual revenue. Lowe discusses the values that drive Brin and Page-both living fairly modest lives despite each having a net worth of over $15.9 billion-and details how they have created a culture that fosters fun, yet keeps Google at the forefront of technology through relentless R&D investments and imaginative partnerships with organizations such as NASA. Examining Google's breakthrough business strategies which transformed online advertising and changed the way we look at corporate responsibility and employee relations, we see why Google may be a harbinger of where corporate America is headed. Also addressed are controversies surrounding Google, such as copyright infringement, antitrust concerns and personal privacy. What started out as a university research project conducted by Sergey Brin and Larry Page has ended up revolutionizing the world. Google Speaks shows you how their drive and determination have allowed them to create one of today's most powerful companies.

Warren Buffett Speaks: Wit and Wisdom from the World's Greatest Investor
"With enough insider information and a million dollars, you can go broke in a year" "What I am is a realist. I always knew I'd like what I'm doing. Oh, perhaps it would have been nice to be a major league baseball player, but that's where the realism comes in." "If a graduating MBA were to ask me 'How do I get rich in a hurry?' I would not respond with quotations from Ben Franklin or Horatio Alger, but would instead, hold my nose with one hand and point with the other toward Wall Street." "Wall Street is the only place that people ride to work in a Rolls Royce to get advice from those who take the subway." Over the years, as Warren Buffett's influence and affluence have grown, one thing has remained the same--his unpretentious, honest and optimistic approach toward business and life. Now you can discover life's little secrets of success as revealed by the world's greatest investor. In this wise and winning collection of quotes, writings and favorite sayings, Warren Buffett Speaks on diverse subjects such as investing, the Internet economy, family and friends, running a business, honesty, teaching, paying taxes, and much, much more. It also examines the thinking that prompted the second richest man in the world to give 85% of his wealth to the first richest couple (Bill and Melinda Gates) to distribute to charity. Assembled by bestselling author Janet Lowe--and updated to reflect Buffett's life over the past decade, the audio book includes a wealth of previously unpublished material. Bargain Hunters, Contrarians, Cycles and Waves
Contrarians and bargain hunters seek investment opportunities by departing from conventional thinking. They study the psychology of markets to exploit mistakes caused by crowd behavior (i.e. the herd instinct). A pure contrarian acts simply in opposition to everyone else; a second type questions all commonly accepted beliefs and trends, acting independently only if appropriate; a third type becomes contrarian accidentally, by following some preferred line of reasoning to its logical conclusions . Notable contrarians and bargain hunters have included Humphrey Neill, David Dreman, Richard Band, John Neff, and George Putnam. Market fluctuations have long attracted analysts who try to find predictive cycles and waves of market behavior. Well-documented cycles include: the Kitchen cycle (inventories, 3-5 years); the Juglar Cycle (fixed investment patterns, 7-11 years); and Kuznets Cycle (building patterns, 15-25 years). Other more controversial theories include: the Kondratyev Cycle (also called "the long economic cycle," about 54 years) in three stages of upswing, crisis, and depression. The Babsonchart of business barometers uses statistics and charts to model a 20-year cycle in four stages: overexpansion, decline, depression, and improvement. The Dow Theory (based on work by Charles Dow, William Hamilton and Robert Rhea) postulated three simultaneous movements: (1) narrow, daily movements; (2) "short swings," over weeks or months; and (3) the "main movement," lasting at least three years. The Elliott Wave Theory postulates a 200-year, eight-wave cycle consisting of five waves up and three waves down, along with cycles within cycles.

Fundamental Analysis, Value Investing and Growth Investing
Benjamin Graham, the "father of fundamental investing," showed the way from speculation (based on tips, intuition , and guesswork) to investing as a disciplined, quantitative analysis of a company's fundamentals (such as earnings, dividends, assets, debt, financial structure, and the history of all these items over time). Graham's style , known as value investing, focuses on a company's intrinsic value (i.e.inherent value), buying stocks only when the market price is well below the intrinsic value per share. Benjamin Graham was himself a remarkably successful investor, and his prize student, Warren Buffett, applied Graham's principles to become perhaps the most successful investor in history. Growth investing seeks to spot companies entering a period of vigorous and rapid expansion. Pioneered by T. Rowe Price in the 1930's, this style has been well suited to capitalize on America's industrial boom after World War II, with the rise of such companies as Xerox, Microsoft, Blockbuster Video, Home Depot, and Liz Claiborne, In addition to finding specialized growth companies, Price specified several criteria for a growth industry. These are (1) high quality R & D; (2) limited competition; (3) few government regulations; (4) well-paid employees but low labor costs; (5) a strong possibility of high return on invested capital; and (6) superior growth in earnings per share. Growth investors must have the nerve to handle risk and the financial wherewithal to endure volatile market conditions.
