So that happened…
And there we all thought that the outbreak of the zombie apocalypse would be the worst event of the year.
That was before we factored in that we must have gotten lost in the garbage-people timeline where only the strong survive—and usually not those portraying strength of character.
But that isn’t even my main issue right now. With fall in full swing and winter fast approaching, food and other resources are not just limited but actually getting really hard to come by.
Food…
Don’t even get me started on that.
Now that it boils down to survival of the assholes, decisions have to be made and sacrifices are in order. And as much as I would like to keep my firm stance on the moral high ground, I’m really not that fond of the consequences. If only there was an alternate solution for my problems… but as I’ve recently found out, that comes with its own massive downsides.
If only that wasn’t so damn tempting, now that I’m hungry all the time…
So damn hungry…
My world is turning into a living nightmare.
My best friend has been murdered and turned into a zombie. I’ve fled what came way too close to a mad scientist’s lair for anyone’s good. I’ve stepped over the dead bodies of men, women, and children who I’ve risked my life for. Watched what little hope and security thousands of people have clung to for weeks go up in flames—and half of them even looking enthusiastic about it. And then the bastards killed another of my friends by turning her into an undead, super-strong monster—that I’ve had to stab to permanent death to prevent her from tearing apart helpless children.
My right hand is still sticky with her cooling, congealing blood.
Getting dragged off to God knows where kind of pales in comparison to that—but only so much.
And all that happened since earlier this morning.
I have no idea if I’ll still be alive come midnight—or if I even want to.
We thought the zombie apocalypse would be the worst that could happen to us. Looks like we were wrong.
When giving up isn’t an option, the only way out is through.
I survived the plague that killed millions.
I escaped from the ravenous monsters when the dead refused to stay dead.
I ran for my life when a last-ditch effort to contain the spread of the infection did nothing but blast the last remaining survivors to smithereens.
Yet not all hope is lost.
Along the way, I made friends for life. Former enemies became allies. We’ve all become part of the Enclave—a survivor stronghold now home to thousands, among them women, children, and entire families. Together, we do everything to beat the odds.
But resources are running low. Cut off from energy, with barely enough food to see up to the end of the week, hunkering down and waiting for the zombie apocalypse to end is not an option.
Someone has to go out there and fight.
That someone is going to be me and my team—and those I still consider foe rather than friend. But we need to work together, or else none of us stand a chance to survive—another week, another day, another hour.

Yet there is hope—a bunker in Wyoming, outfitted with weapons and food, and above all else, defensible shelter for the winter. Can they survive the two-thousand-miles trip across the country with nothing but the clothes on their back and what they can scavenge along they way? This is not the kind of challenge that Bree ever imagined she would have to face, but she’s determined to survive—even if that means to learn how to on the job.

Coffee, to make slaving away in her cell culture lab at Green Fields Biotech a little more bearable on a Friday afternoon when everyone is home already.
What she doesn’t count on is a group of terrorists blowing up all the entrances to the building and taking her and a select few others hostage. Bree soon finds herself conflicted. Not only does she know their charismatic leader. She also starts to suspect that there is a lot more to this than the hunt for an illegal bioweapon—a virus that could potentially kill millions in just a few days—particularly as there is currently a flu epidemic raging across the country, and reports about violent behavior among the afflicted are getting more and more alarming.

After a long winter spent hunkering down in Wyoming, Bree, Nate, and the gang are back on the road. The harsh temperatures up in the northern regions might have decimated the undead scourge somewhat, but soon they have to face reality: it’s not just zombies that are out there to hunt people down and kill them. For humanity to have a fighting chance to rebuild a semblance of civilization, everyone will have to work together—and resources are scarce. Someone will have to go out there and face the danger—and maybe find out what happened to the undead that were smart enough to flee the cold. Only the strong and smart have survived, making everyday life just a little more deadly for everyone.
Not so lucky anymore…
Civilization is on the brink of crumbling—and this time not just due to the zombie apocalypse. The roads have become dangerous, and what havens have been established are no longer safe. Murmurs of unrest—or maybe even a brewing civil war—are getting loud. No longer are zombies the only thing preying on those that think to brave the world outside the settlements.
Yet as grave as things are getting, this is not the main issue that is plaguing Nate’s mind. He has bigger fish to fry.
