The nonsensical poem The Hunting of the Snark (An Agony in Eight Fits) was written by Lewis Carroll in 1874 and published in 1876. Describing "e;with infinite humor the impossible voyage of an improbable crew to find an inconceivable creature"e;, the work borrows in-part from Carroll's Jabberwocky in Through the Looking-Glass.
