LoveReading Says
Friendship is key in this heartwarming novel as it celebrates food, love, forgiveness, and sense of self. Three women, each with a background of hurt and pain find themselves in the welcoming arms of a cookery school in Greece. This is a gentle tale, yet it doesn’t avoid pain or change, in fact it meets it head on. We meet the owner of the school in the first person, and she remains at the centre of this tale. The focus also settles on the two other women, where secrets are yet to be discovered. As the three begin to form a fragile bond, I felt as thought I was a part of each scene as the location sang with vibrancy. The joy of food is celebrated along side natural harmony by author Emma Cowell as we view the blossoming friendship through the bees. Romance is on the cards, it slips into the story and weaves through the other relationships to form a bond with family and friendship. Singing with depth and emotion, The House in the Olive Grove is an all-embracing truly lovely read.
