Very early on we learn that boring, frightened Murray has only a few months to live. Have you thought about it? I have, and in many ways Iâd do what this character does … live a bit, only I hope I donât attract his problems! This is wacky stuff, written with rip-roaring pace, full of hilarious and unlikely scenarios and weird but lovable characters, a true comic novel of style. Catch his email novel, e, too and an equally crazy media one, The Book, The Film, The T-Shirt.
Murrayâs living life to the full – and it might just kill him. Heâs started telling the truth at work. Heâs borrowed a stack of cash from a man with a gun, a speech impediment and no grasp whatsoever of APR. Heâs also taking drugs and – God help him – heâs started dancing. Badly. To trance. And now heâs on the run with a human version of Muttley and a teenage girl called Fish.
Which is strange, because a few weeks ago Murray didnât even burn the candle at one end. But when his doctors tell him he has only months to live, he gives his boring old self the boot, relaunches a new, improved Murray and falls in love with a passion he didnât know was in him.
His old self, of course, would tell him heâs digging his own grave. But heâll be needing one of those soon enough anyway, wonât he?
