Another year, and so many new adventures in reading to come and if I were to judge from the novels I've already come across for the initial quarter of the year which publishers have been bombarding my mail box with, in all likelihood a halcyon year. How can you not enjoy talented novelists as they always come up with surprising delights and innovate endlessly and make our reading ever more pleasurable? Malevolent domestic puzzles, river rafting with a menace, Norwegian fjords populated by troubled souls, almost the end of the world, an almost prescient post-Brexit Europe, a fascinating 1937 novel which feels as modern, if not more so, than many contemporary books, spies on the range and serial killers at large: all human life (and death) is here!
